"You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, and training them up in God's fear, and minding the house, and making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts."
~Charles Spurgeon

Jehovah Jireh

Reading today about God's provision as He instructed Abraham to offer of his only son Issac as a sacrifice of worship to the Lord (Genesis 2:1-19), I'm reminded of one of the wonderful names of God, Jehovah Jireh meaning God will provide (v. 13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."). We sometimes get so caught up in thinking that our jobs or however we earn an income, that paycheck we receive is what provides for our us. Without it, how can we survive? God has taught me, Jehovah Jireh, GOD WILL PROVIDE!!!!

Our family can attest to this promise. Getting laid off over a year, Al is still waiting on the Lord to provide a full time job. He's given Al temporary jobs (which is an absolute blessing) but that like it's name, it's just temporary. But even with a temporary job God still provides for all our needs! We'll just continue to wait on Him and trust in Jehovah Jireh!

Chone, you are right God will provide and I can attest to that too....whenever i feel like giving up God always there to lift me up. Always remember that He will not give us what we cant bear and we are never alone.

Psalm 116: 1-9

I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.

Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.

The cords of death entangled me,
the anguish of the grave came upon me;
I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.

Then I called on the name of the LORD :
"O LORD, save me!"

The LORD is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.

The LORD protects the simplehearted;
when I was in great need, he saved me.

Be at rest once more, O my soul,
for the LORD has been good to you.

For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,

that I may walk before the LORD
in the land of the living.
