"You are as much serving God in looking after your own children, and training them up in God's fear, and minding the house, and making your household a church for God, as you would be if you had been called to lead an army to battle for the Lord of hosts."
~Charles Spurgeon

Bola Bola Time with Nana

My kids love to help in the kitchen whenever they can. Even though it can cause a huge mess I love sharing those precious moments with them. Here's one moment I was able to capture. My mom (a.k.a. "Nana") came over the morning of New Year's Eve to help set up for family to come over later that night. She needed help making the bola bola for the ginataan that she planned on making later on. If you're reading this and you're Filipino or you have Filipino friends, hopefully you'll know what I'm talking about. If you don't, ginataan is sort of like a dessert with the look and consistancy of soup. It's really good! And the bola bola is the soft white "balls" in the ginataan. Anyway, Nana had a special surprise for the kids. They were going to be the special bola bola makers. Here's what the scene looked like. It was so much fun!

Psalm 116: 1-9

I love the LORD, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.

Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.

The cords of death entangled me,
the anguish of the grave came upon me;
I was overcome by trouble and sorrow.

Then I called on the name of the LORD :
"O LORD, save me!"

The LORD is gracious and righteous;
our God is full of compassion.

The LORD protects the simplehearted;
when I was in great need, he saved me.

Be at rest once more, O my soul,
for the LORD has been good to you.

For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,

that I may walk before the LORD
in the land of the living.
